The story follows a college sophomore named Keiichi Morisato, who accidentally dials the Goddess Help Hotline, an agency that grants the wishes of humans. The goddess Belldandy appears before him, and says that she has been sent to fulfill a single wish.

College freshman Morisato Keiichi gets more than he bargained for when he goes dialing for dinner and gets an unexpected dilivery - Belldandy, a real live, honest to goodness GODDESS! Belldandy grants him a wish, and Keiichi decides that what he really needs is a girlfriend just like her.
