Visual Novel collaboration?

Hey hey, would anyone be interested in doing a colab for a visual novel? Nothing grand maybe like a short story or something. I don't have much experience doing characters but I can do a pretty cool 3D render background resident evil style. I also do some writing but i am by no means an expert. I use ren'py as its free and easy to create events and program for. http://www.renpy.org/ We can have a chitty chat here if you peeps are interested and discuss particulars. If you don't feel like doing the colaby i still implore you lot to check out ren'py. Better then trying to code it from scratch and easy for creative writing types to get into it. Apologies if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where to put it.

Ren'py huh? I made a 45 minute long visual novel collab with branching story paths for my game design class back in college. I'd collab with you if I had the time, but I'm learning Unity now.

I would love to collab but my story is currently on hiatus due to studies and life issues >_< I enjoyed playing a lot of visual novels on lemmasoft where a lot of people used renpy xD I even had a VN review blog xD Hopefully I can squeeze some time and get in the mood to continue my story xD

What sort of skills are you looking for? I'm more on the writing and creative side than I am Technically. Stories, Characters design, Quality Assurance (Excluding discovering severe bugs) are what I could help with.

Well I'm pretty proficient with ren'py so would need people that can do character design and some writers. I'm not sure QA would be that important considering its just a visual novel but could be handy depending on how many choices there are. I have a library of 3D assets I've made so could definitely make use of that for backgrounds (Most of it is real world stuff so preferably a slice of life themed game). No worries if you lot are busy. I'm actually doing this to get a breather from unity funnily enough (Working on the same thing for hours makes brain turn into goo). Yeah I'd like for this to be a thing totally.

Well if your interested leave a post saying what you would like to contribute to the project, just so that we can have a headcount of how many writers we have, artists and all that jazz. And impose away, this is a colab and nobody is paying you lol So if your idea is about space aliens trying to collect a harem of slugs, please go right ahead :P

Right, so I was gonna use this script for my own visual novel, but I might as well get you guys' opinion on it. Cassidy Leon is a member of the Earth Defense Force (EDF), a special created after an alien invasion on Earth. The few earthlings that remain, are on the verge of extinction. Cassidy is best friend with and right hand of Rena Casbell, the Commander of the EDF. When the story begins, the EDF is about to launch a final assault on the alien forces, but the commander suddenly falls extremely ill, and assault is delayed. Rena calls upon her best friend to her side and reveals to her that she isn't, in fact sick, but instead dissapearing from existence altogether. While trying to understand the reason behind this sudden occurrence, they both come to the conclusion that someone must have misused their time traveling machine and endangered the commander's or her parents life. By fear if creating an uproar, Rena decides that she cannot talk about it to anyone else and asks that Cassidy go back in time and do her best to fix whatever event was altered in the past... Jump back a good twenty years. The story now is about Wayatt Casbel (aka MC). MC just graduated from university, he has his long time girlfriend, Lina Remedio, by his side, his future was promising...and all and all, MC's life couldn't be more perfect. That is until Lina falls victim to a terrorist attack targeting the shopping mall of the city. MC has trouble coping with her death, and falls into a spiral of depression. He loses his job, gains weight and he's about to be extradited from his place. On the verge of despair, MC decides he's given up on life and tries to commit suicide... But has he falls from the bridge he'd chosen to jump from, he falls flat on top of a huge machine appearing from nowhere. MC tries to jump again without even trying to question what had just transpired, but he is just rescued again by the girl the just came out of the top of the machine. Cassidy immediately recognizes Rena's father, due to their uncanny resemblance, and demands he explains the reasons behind his acts, believing that, MC's death is what might have caused her best friend to start dissapearing. After they both reach the shore MC is forced to tell her about his girlfriend's death and all that transpired after. In return, Cassidy slopily tries to explain the situation she's in but makes a poor job of it and only ends up confusing MC. Instead of insisting, she decides that, since she is now unable to return any further in the past, the only thing she can do is help MC get his life back on track and get into a new relationship. Since way perhaps her best friend won't end up dissapearing completely... So, anyways, that'd be the main setting for the game. The player goes through the story attempting to raise MC's stats back up to a normal level, and romance a lady before Cassidy is forced to go back to the future again. I already imagined a set of possible 'routes' and 'endings'. Don't mind the personal notes, those are just pointers from myself. I'm just ctrl+c/ctrl+v at this point. - NERO LUMIA - That you'd love even someone like me... (Regular Ending 1): Fugitive from a distant planet, she killed a high figure in her society in retaliation for her husband's assassination. She escaped to Earth after discovering the government's plan to attack it. She now lives secretly on Earth and works part time at the same place as MC. She fears the day when the authorities will find and assassinate her and lives everyday really stressed because of it. She's quite nice but doesn't let any close in fear that they might be coming after her. Because the mechanism that make her appear human requires alien resources she's gonna have to return eventually. IN the meantime, she absents herself from work whenever she cannot appear as a human. + In her ending, the aliens attack is advanced by a long shot, and MC and her have to prepare humanity against the threat. Cassidy decides to stay with them to help them with her knowledge, even though she knows doing so means never returning to her own future. + Her route revolves heavily in discovering her secrets, so this means going to work a lot and going to her house.5+n+w Tall woman, with long black hair sad and tired eyes. She wears a white shirt and a black asdkaskdak on top with a dark blue tie. - FIONA ARCHER - I just hate how much I love you (Regular Ending 2): Best friend to Lina since childhood, she had loving feelings for but couldn't confess in time. She blames MC for it and absosultely despises him. So much so that she actually tries to kill him in the story (It's Game Over, if the player fails to stop her from killing MC.) Even with that, she cannot help but help Mc sometimes out of obligation to Lina. (Not a Tsundere!!!) Though she's rather beautiful she's also really aggressive and lacks friends because of it. Despite that she's extremely smart and already works for an important company despite her young age. + Her story revolves around MC accepting his mistakes, and gaining her pardon. + She's the only character whose feelings for MC start in the Red Zone, so her route is more difficult than the others. + Her route has to be cleared before being able to unlock Lina's. + In her ending, Cassidy returns to the future happy, but worrying that the mother of her friend might affect her behaviour. Fortunately it doesn't. Fiona has actually managed to become the leader of the EDF, with her daughter and Cassidy as her personal assistant. - EMILY CHARLTON - If loving you is a crime... (Regular Ending 3): Police woman at the local precinct, Emily is someone that easily gets herself in trouble. Despite her ferocious nature she is still excellent at her job. She knows MC from a few years when he accidentally helped her catch a criminal, and has been on friendly terms with him since then. Emily was patrolling the area where the terrorist attack took place and feels guilty that she was unable to save anyone at all. + Her story is different in that, she's not really the one that falls in love in love with MC, but the opposite. It is revealed that Emily is actually a spy, and has been investigating him since long before they knew each other, due to the fact that MC was always involved in unexplained incident. + Unlike Fiona's, her feelings towards MC start in the green zone, but increase very slowly. You can only cap. her to max. friendship, and you must confess to her in order to progress. - MILLA TORRIO - Love is the cure (Regular Ending 4): Music student at the same university MC used to attend, they meet each other when MC is sent to the hospital after his failed suicide attempt. She's invalid, needs a wheel chair to move, and suffers from unknown and apparently uncurable disease to slowly degrades her entire body. She wishes to to be able to perform at least once before completely loosing grip of her body. Milla's 'disease' his actually caused by the probe constant presence. When MC understands this, he tries to separate the two for her sake, but she is too attached to him, and the probe is agresive towards everyone to would hurt her. In the end however, the probe decides by itself that it is best for her that he disapears, so he auto destroys himself before she succumbs to the disease. + It turns out, Milla was abducted by aliens when she was young, experimented upon by the aliens and left to rot on earth afterwards. Her twin brother is actually a probe created by the aliens using her dna. The probe is used to monitor her condition but also and more importantly serves to monitor the situation on earth, and detect the perfect opportunity for invasion. - ONE MORE MAYBE- (Regular Ending 5): - CASSIDY LEON - We must NOT love... (Special Ending 1): Best friend and right hand to MC's future daughter. Against her orders to stay and protect her, she decides to attempt the impossible and go back to the past in order to lead the flow of time on an acceptable line once more. Achieved by completing all of the 'Cassidy's Tale' events. + Nero's and Milla's routes must be completed to unlock this one. - LINA REMEDIO - Back from the dead... somehow, my love (Special Ending 2): MC's girlfriend until very recently. She was caught in a terrorist attack and perished in a huge explosion... Achieved by completing of the Lina's Reminders events and being of friendly terms with all of the girls. MC finds a way to go back in time by stealing Cassidy's machine and 'somehow' miraculously making it work... + Fiona's route must be completed to unlock this one.
