Being too nice a bad thing?

yaasshat
Push over? That'd be too nice. Ya gotta know when to say no.

People tend to take advantage of kind hearted individuals. I extend my kindness to the usual courtesies, but I reserve the shirt off my back for those i've known for years, not days or months

A pushover is an idiot, not nice. It's just how a bully is just an ass, not assertive.

I agree with Jinsei... Being too nice isn't a thing. Being naive or a pushover are though. But those things are not actually connected to being nice.

Depends on the area you live in and the kinda people you're around. It's true that in many cases being too nice will indeed get you taken advantage of, but at the same time no one likes a douchebag (besides other douchbags). You just need to learn when to be nice and when not to be. Learn to judge situations and react to them on a case by case bases. Good rule of thumb is it's okay to be nice when it doesn't cost you anything, such as the classic walking old ladies across streets or opening doors for people. On the other hand when people ask you to loan them money or do things that are shady or illegal then it's okay to put your foot down and say no.

It is, screw people, they don't deserve it. Unless it's courtesy (education being a priority) but otherwise, don't let people take advantage of you.

Hey everyone thanks so much for the replies! I didn't expect this many responses. I'm going to give every one of you a heart! XD

I'm TRYING to find a kind hearted individual ;~; I mean I sometimes let certain people take advantage over me in exchange for their friendship and everything works out fine. There are different levels or types of kindness in my opinion ._.

There's a difference between being nice and being a pushover. Also I suppose it'd be something to think about is why are you nice? Some people are nice because they expect things from others, like a certain reaction or a certain action. But that's kinda falling into "nice guy" territory so that's another topic. Basically if you're just a nice person who just does nice things because it's something you do with no expectations, than go for it. But know that sure, there will be people who will take advantage of you and sure, it might be a turn off for some people but you can't win them all and if it's who you are then you're better off knowing anyways.
