I've had crushing anxiety and mild depression over through all of my teen years. Missed many many chances. My life was shit but I've got rid of my anxiety to ~90%. My depressive thoughts vanished completely so far. Here's what I've done so far: ● quit smoking cigarettes ● quit alcohol ● quit all drugs (most of 'em worsen your anxiety) ● quit watching shit porn where chicks get slapped in the face with dongs (messes up your mental health) ● quit a diet full of simple sugars, bad carbs and empty calories ● stopped giving a fuck about shit ● practiced presenting in front of many people ● researched topics people like to talk about and practiced holding a conversation ● picked up a bodyweight workout program ● returned again to some hobbies of mine (dancing, running) ● going out for a walk every single day ● created a diet plan so I have more healthy vegetables, healthy fats and lean meat ● picked up fasting & meditation, breathing exercise (helped me tremendously) Here's a list of my supplements which help me whenever I feel anxious ● Magnesium (you want to look for one which absorbs well; or Magnesium Oil) ● Vitamin D ● Multivitamin and Vitamin B Complex ● Zinc (good for male health) ● L-Tyrosine Here's a great tip whenever you feel too anxious to talk up a chick: Imagine her having to shave her moustache every day! Just laugh about this and you'll have a great start, because you have a smile on your face and people are attracted to happy confident ones! Works 100%! You want to look into how to practice self-love and positive thinking patterns. Research how you can raise your self-confidence. One thing you certainly must avoid is self-shame. There are many great books, youtube movies and forums on this subject. You're not alone battling this and you can do this! Good luck!

I see a lot of people like that show up for their first HVZ game and leave with all kinds of connections, friends, confidence in themselves, and belonging to a new culture. So if there are any campuses doing that around you, and you're into zombies and nerf guns, trust me, its an experience that will help. You never know courage or trust until you've had to hold a firing line with a hundred people charging at you shouting "BRAINZ!" Okay, so shameless plug aside, we kinda live in a day in age when anxiety and depression are pretty normal, and that's largely to do with how social media isn't quite compatible with how social dynamics works. Used to be we'd have to spend weeks talking to someone before we get that compliment which triggers a dopamine trip in the brain. (The warm fuzzy feeling.) Now, we get that same reaction when someone likes a comment on face book or something. I still have mild depression, but I manage it pretty well. I have anxieties as well. (Literally just got a letter saying I didn't pay my city taxes in 2 years, because they don't process turbo tax, so that was nerveracking. But I made it through that just ten minutes or so ago, and managed to get the fees waved.) And I don't know anyone (who isn't a psychopath) who doesn't have those feelings. So its normal. And it takes practice to build the confidence to face them. Nobody expects you to be magically able to pop outside and make all the friends, and be an extrovert as though you have been your entire life. And trust me, I'm not shy, but I can spend weeks at a time indoors working on a creative project without any social interaction. There is nothing wrong with being an introvert. @Diplomatista67: You know, I've actually done about half the things on that list. And you're right, they do help. I like to break it down to this formula: Meditation and exercise in conjunction + proper diet + healthy sleep

Try to go outside, and probably talk to a therapist or something. Anime communities are mostly filled with people like us, so only spending time with people who are also depressed, is not gonna help.

I was in the same boat like you until it seriously started affecting my health and work.I went to a psychiatrist and I m currently recovering. My tips are to start slowly, don't rush yourself, try taking a simple walk and/or a chat with a classmate/neighbour for starters until you get comfortable. You don't need to go to parties or hang out with everyone, but these small steps can mean a lot (I know they did to me) ^^
