Incest and incest undertones

vampire_neko
I didn't grow up with my younger half-sister but when I visited when I was young, we always slept in the same bed even into our teens. I always thought she was really hot. We never did anything but she kinda teased me a few times, wanting to wrestle with me wearing only her panties and a shirt (when she was 12 and I was 15) and such. I'm glad nothing serious happened because it could have resulted in serious long-term emotional/psychological issues, even if I secretely wished it had. BTW, she was a skinny blonde cheerleader, perfect body. That being said, I immediately loved incest anime. But it's fantasy, not rl. Fantasy is a great outlet because it's safe and not messy and complicated like real life is.

A good chunk of incest in manga is by siblings related by marriage rather than blood. This always makes me think of an interesting thought experient. Imagine you fall madly in love with someone. After months of dating your single parent meets your significant other's single parent and they fall in love and get a shotgun wedding. Now you two are step siblings. Would that change the relationship in your eyes? If you happened to get married first, what could your single parents do when they fell in love? Would they be ostracized by society for wanting to get married when their children already are? Would they be expected to forfeit that right, that small piece of happiness so that their children can marry?

In japan it's normal for cousins to marry. Interestingly Einstein's parents were cousins. However the closer the relation the more likely genetic disabilities are.

It's merely flawed recessive genes that are brought forward with similar genetic pairings. But if the two parents are of good health, the baby is usually fine. The fact of small communities in rural settings engaging in multiple generations of continuous incest and that there is a higher tendency for persons of low intelligence and bad genetics to engage in incest more frequently, which tended to result in more birth defects, contributed to the rumors of incest automatically resulting in birth defects and such. Really, reasonably healthy persons can usually have healthy babies regardless of incest. It's way more frequent than most people realize because it's socially unacceptable and therefore kept secret.

I just googled it... "[...] when first-degree relatives mate, the risk of their child suffering from an early death, serious birth defect or mental disability increases to almost 50 percent. [...]" Why take risks? Idc if siblings date but I don't support them inbreeding. Adopt if you want to have children yet be in an incest relationship.

It's interesting how we inbreed dogs and other animals all the time, but not ok for humans. But yeah, it's usually a bad idea for many reasons.

Yeah, that is common practice which is exactly why most overbread breeds have some sort of chronic health issue. Breathing problems, eye problems... etc.
