Do you watch... (Anime Topic)

I highly prefer subs for most of my viewing. There are only two things I like dubbed: DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho. That's it. Other than that it's really hard to go back to watching dubs. But even worse than dubbed anime are the old Hong Kong martial arts films. I can't stand listening to the stereotypical dubbed voices now. It's so irritating. But at least Bruce Lee did his own voice in his films.

I highly praise DBZ for its dub. I can go on and on why it's my favorite dub of an anime ever. It's the only dub that is actually better than it's original counterpart (in my opinion).

I really agree with what Kohagura said. That's my opinion.

I had that clip in mind too Kohagura, but to be fair stuff like that is more of an issue with the Japanese creators not having many available English voice actors to pick from.

That's true. I mean if they wanted fluent English speakers they also couldn't just hire someone overseas since they need them in the studio and such... which would be too expensive to pay both their job and flight or other accommodations. Plus the budget is already pretty tight to begin with. Always hear about animation studios being extremely stressful.

Indeed. Not to mention English voice actors act like primadonnas in japan and expect crazy high payments.

I enjoy dubs, doesn't stop me from watching both though, I mean some series just seem better depending on if there dubbed or subbed. I watched Baka Test in both Japanese and English and enjoyed the voice acting from both, like the dub studio actually took the time to pick an English cast to match the characters but there are a lot of dubs out there where the studios haven't done very good jobs in that regard.
