Reproducing old series?

altair88
Well Lately more and more series of old are bring redone with better animation, script and even length of episodes. Is this a good idea or a bad one? Does it hurt the old series or will it reenergize it? if you in favor of it any series you would like to see redone?

I find that its a relatively positive thing that old series are being re-done, although I can only name a few off the top of my head. It allows a younger generation of people to experience a show that they would have generally not bothered with, due to various reasons (filler, art, style, voice acting). I myself realized a little while ago that although I LOVED dragonballZ when I was a kid, I couldnt watch it today. When I watched it, it was only one episode per day, i couldnt get spoilers (lack of internet access), and I had to wait. That made it exciting and I could overlook all the filler content. Now if I attempted to, I would become bored. If I remember right they did release an edited version, am I correct? Although I have not experienced it, Ive heard positive things.

Yeah DBZ has been edited several times I could hardly the the difference though Dragon Ballz Kai has less filler and the intro and ending have changed but overall it felt the same.

Let's not forget that Viz has done a redone Sailor Moon to better English voices without taking out anything

So true.

I haven't really noticed more than a mere handful of series being redone. And its not happening fast enough for it to be the prevailing trend in the face of all the new titles that are being produced. Personally I feel that there needs to be a generation between remakes. Enough time so that the previous viewership now has children that are the target age for that particular title.

It should be done 15 to 20 years down the line. Doing it like fma brotherhood was a bit soon, but the quality of the show remained intact so who knows? I think the bigger question is, does it need a remake to begin with, especially if the original anime for any series closely follows a manga enough filler or no and you never had any complaints to begin with? Sometimes the changes made in filler are good just look at trigun. Now for cancelled anime such as rurouni kenshin or bleach I understand, filler was the death of them and both deserve remakes, but bleach is still too new and the manga isnt finished yet. Also rurouni kenshin never finished the story from the manga, aka the jinchu arc, and theyve avoiding thst since samurai x, a terrible summary of the events from the story.

Dragonball z kai for instance was unessisary in my opinion. I loved the original and so far I havent heard as much about younger kids these days watching it, but then I know alot of families who tell their kids not to watch anime because it looks weird. Anyway dbz should be untouchable and should just be re aired for a new audience. There was no need for kai, the original anime had filler but compared to alot of shonen now its peanuts.

Dude I totally agree with you.
