I think people should use whatever picture they want. That being said, I think you're less likely to get someone to say they're interested in you in a non-platonic way without a real life pic.

Anime is totally cuter. I finally started using real pics, because I'm tired of ppl falling for me and disappointed I'm a SSBBW - it's on my profile, but guess they cannot read. Besides, I'm not here to date, but build a new circle of friends I can relate to. haha

I think that people should at least have a picture of themselves in their gallery, but that's just my opinion, using a real pic as your profile picture isn't that big of a deal, it says a lot about yourself even if you're not showing your real self

After toiling around various dating sites, you should definitely use your real pic if you want to get decent mileage. Most people check you out and judge your pics within 5 seconds in dating/social sites. If it's not real, people won't feel as interested. Yeah, it's a meat market, but that's what technological convenience does to dating/social media. If you don't use a real pic, it just devolves into yet another [anime] forum. This is why a face pic of some sort is a requirement for *all* of them, or else it essentially defeats its purpose. There needs to be a real connection, and less of an online, anonymous one. As for feeling embarrassed about having a real pic in a dating site or being afraid of being judged, who cares, brush it off. That happens to you every time you go outside anyways.

I use my REAL figma as my pic does that count? Lolol but I had my real pic up for a while and when I met my gf (off this site) I switched to this one. Plus as stated already there is a gallery option, if someone really is interested in you (or creeping) they will take the time to look there, and then "oh look! There's a pic of him/her there, he/she is really cute!" boom make em work for it imo :p
