It's best to avoid trying to get with a person right after they break up with somebody. You really don't want to start a relationship being somebody's rebound.

I've only ever had one long distance relationship & it worked out fairly well. Things actually didn't go sour 'til he moved closer to me. However, I've had several friends who were in long distance relationships & were completely miserable. So I guess it really varies from person to person. The thing is that both people have to put an equal amount of effort into the relationship, otherwise it won't work.
