I haven't been reading any manga recently but for a novels I recommend Ana Huang's Twisted series; twisted love, twisted games, twisted hate, twisted lies. It's all really good and has some very descriptive scenes with amazing tension build up! Ana huang is a great author :D. Characters from each book are entwined with eachother in one way or another. All of the books from this series have happy endings. Currently on book #2 of the series and it's had me flustered so hard that I have to pause between chapters. XD
