The Electronic Sideshow

What ever they are they never seem to do more than spook people. I'm not sure on ghosts, but I belive there may be something like a recording of a person's energy left behind, we do run on electricity after all. I view it as something like a tape recording, but then I don't think that accounts for things like your name being said or direct interaction like growling. It's interesting to me, but I've seen and heard nothing. I would love to tour a supposed haunted place and try to see or listen for things though. I'm sure I'd be like Scooby-Doo and haul ass, but it'd be fun nonetheless.

Yeah Yass ... That's primarily my thoughts. That memories or emotions imprint on that energy left behind.

There are a handful of me and my friends that really get into these paranormal talks and one friend joins in but she dismisses ideas of ghosts and hauntings saying they are all demons. She's a little religious, but I'm not. I think people are evil. But her perspective kinda adds to the talks, brings up other things that I wouldn't consider from a non-spiritual standpoint.

I simply have no idea why people are so afraid of such things.
yaasshat
Jinsei, It's fear of the unknown. Honestly, I'd love the chance to interact with "them", but I more than realize I still am superstitious and believe in things that'd probably make me have at least some sense of fear. People fear death(I don't care what you say. ) and the dead coming back is just a reminder of our own mortality.

Perhaps so. But on the flip side I think such concepts linger because they also offer hope that there is more than just this life. Heh... finding hope in a fear.

Eeeexxcept for people like me that do not hold on to any religious beliefs

However as a scientist, you are bound to regard the evidence... Evidence! EVIDENCE!!!!!! @.@

Belief does not have to equate religious. Scientists have faith before they have undeniable proof. We all have faith, I have faith that I'll wake up tomorrow, but I don't have proof just yet.

Scientific theories hold as much ground with paranormal as religious beliefs do. Being that both are grounded in theories, both attempt to explain things differently. The difference is science grows and evolves while most religions collect dust. If I were to put money on one or the other to solve some of life's mysteries, I'm betting on science for the simple reason as I see using religion and spiritual beliefs as a cop-out explaining how we arrived from point A to point B. Religion has faith the line is there while science finds the properties that make that line exist even if it's unknown. The thing is, when I was a kid, I didn't have a phone with a camera to try to document what I was going in search of-even if I did, at the time that wouldn't have been something I even considered doing. The thing that happened at my office, I was just there to work and something happened. This is why I say you can't convert skeptics. I'm not even trying to but ultimately I know what I heard and saw all those times and I really don't care if anyone believes me or not. Infernal just happened to ask, so I shared.
