Anime becoming more mainstream

@Riolis I like the way you think I'd definitely agree with you on just about all accounts. though one thing that's always present I'm not fan of will always be fan service, as a outstanding story can be present but I just don't think throwing in something of the sort keeps me in so much as it pushes me away, which is why I'm not a fan of the ecchi genre for reasons of because I think it can either be average or shallow dribble that's story is bad and action is so boring that it puts me to sleep. Could never get into the genre really, I always liked a good story and at the very least I'd even take the "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM" anime's over ecchi and not a fan of that either, it kills the tension wen a character just wont stay dead. if nothing else fate zero is prime example of an anime that's mature and tells a great story, which is more towards my attention. Though I think there's already too much garbage plaguing anime and it seems to be getting worse and worse. a changing environment is fine but when to me it's pointed more towards idiots with brains stored in their balls I seem to think most anime's are kinda falling into that category majority of the time then something like erased with a great story that makes you think (though I hated the ending to the point of what the hell where they thinking levels). but within all reason I guess it makes it all the more sweet searing through trash and finding a gem, so it goes both ways I suppose.

@panda not very keen on small details are we? I said "becoming" I didn't say it "is", see my point is based off of a possibility because believe it or not anime's popularity growing can equal just that. so unless you're a time lord I'd suggest you just play along with the "what if" scenarios. What I'm getting at is the opinion on the ever changing environment and status of anime, not present but the future. what is in store down the road for anime if it became completely mainstream? how would it effect the community similar to how you wouldn't except the kinds of people you mentioned as they would probably be majority, and what (though I'd have to agree to an extent) it could pose. But if your answer is as simplistic as "it wont because the fan base over most things aren't true anime fans" fair enough. but elaborate more, think of possibilities like good shifts and bad shifts all I want is imagination and opinion based off that imagination. But in the end I respect what you've said and do agree to a fixed point. but ask yourself this, "what makes a true anime fan?" it's completely subject to personal opinion, no one has the same ideals.

I must have missed this. Sure I guess there is plenty of fan service anime than the one with proper story, but there is what the market in Japan wanted. The demographic is early teen to young adult, and those are the people who spend money on merchandise, quite evident if you go to Akihabara and see who the market is. In 10 or 20 years I bet the shift will change towards more mature audience but for now, fanservice banzai! But me, I don't really mind, but I guess I'm just the type who likes Adam Sandler movie while everyone else cringe at that name. Plus I get my story from light novels and manga, so anime is not the main part of my healthy diet anymore. The "this is my final form" is the base of typical shounen story line. Every story in Jump Weekly have that, I mean the appeal is if you work hard enough and if you don't give up, you can be better then what you are now. I find that ok, tho it might be getting way to cliche ever since DBZ.

to sum voice up. I don't like bad anime. sad part is voice. there are that do so they continue to be made. when things go into mainstream two thing happen stagnation or evolution. take movies for example. we are currently on a big comic book hero phase and the market is so saturated that film makers will have to outdo previous works or bomb and lose their job. eventually you reach a peak and rapid decline. this is called a market crash. when people just get sick of the genre and move on. some move on to other genres. others stick to it and continue to excel (until they can't) rip guitar hero.
