State of Anime(My Opinion)

Every copy has it's original, that fits the very definition of the word. What is going on today is a meme like society, that regurgitates upon themselves the same ole caption over and over again. It's a wash and repeat cycle since people forget, or can't recognize an original.High IQ anime Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex points that out with an episode dedicated to that. Exactly my point, look at the growth? And look at how much content has the same graphical content, and same ole cheesy cliche. Looking throughout your list, some of which I've already seen. You can easily see the graphical styles starting to merge from 2006-2016. Same look, same cheesy style animation they put on the characters to brighten them up, really lacks atmosphere. GRANTED, there is some anime I like in both lists. Also, Berserk, D. Gray Man, ect. Has their origins from an earlier time. You can also make a big difference in atmosphere from the older graphics, to the newer ones. I'm not harping on all CGI graphics, but most of that is just not my style. That's why I placed this as an opinion thread. Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Ghost in the Shell arise are perfect examples of what I'm talking about. Dragon Ball Z Kai strips a lot of the musical atmosphere(Falconer Score for Dub), story-line to suit those with a shorter attention span. Ghost in the Shell Arise takes away the maturity, and deep story-line compared to it's original predecessors. Then you have the Berserk Movies, and the Neon Genesis Evangelion Rebuilds, self explanatory in their own right. Now there have been remakes done right like HxH 2011 and FMA Brotherhood that have done justice in my opinion. Yes I do Cherry Pick, I can discern if I like something or not by just merely using discernment by looking at the synopsis and the art style. I don't disregard anything, It's just not hard for me to tell. I see more people talking about Modern Anime than not, I'm not the majority here :). There are more people like yourself. It's all a matter of personal perspective and insight, and again I didn't harp on all the newer titles. There are some I enjoy deeply, just has to suit my fancy as I explained above.

@ BlueRose I agree it dose seem like society is just repeating the same method in its work only a rare few times you see any thing original or a fresh take, but @neet-one has a point when were younger we see everything as new and exciting the stories interest us more.

I see what you're saying. For the past few years now, it's been easily noticeable that most anime each season follow a genre trend. There are still those who go their own way though. It's just the fact that anime blew up so huge and so many creators got into it. There's more out each season than in the past, with more shows you're bound to see more similarities than you would in the past. It makes it look like the individualization went away, but don't worry, it's still there.

I am noticing the same plot in most anime, especially in MECH. I got tired of MECH anime being basically the same as other MECH anime.

Everything is a Remix https://vimeo.com/139094998 This is nothing new. You're really going to use ghost in the shell as an example of originality? Do you have any idea how much cyber punk anime and manga was released before and around the time it was released? and how can you say things have started to merge when there's very clear cut proof right there that things have done the complete opposite. There's more styles, more genres, more diversity and range than ever before. Yeah everything today can be traced back to something else, but the same holes true for anything and everything from before too. Creators don't pull ideas out of thin air, do enough research on almost any material and you'll eventually find the creator saying where they drew inspiration from. The fact alone that you're using some of the most mainstream anime out there for your examples tells me you really don't explore the stuff very much. I mean dragonball? really? How can you expect something like dragonball to do anything less than pander to the masses as it always has? It's a show about guys flying around screaming and punching eachother, and you're complaining about them pandering to viewers with shorter attention spans? You can't judge anime as a whole just off a few trendy shows. That's the same thing that cases people who don't watch any anime to ignorantly stereotyping anime and assume it's nothing but tentacle porn harems. Likewise if all you watch is the stuff adult swim picks out for you and assume everything else is generic cheesy pandering and cliche then you're not much better than those folk. If I'm coming off like an ass here it's because I've seen this sort of thing countless times before and it's annoying to see fake otaku complain about the current state of anime simply because it's not what they want it to be, which is typically more blood gore and action. I could just as easily go on a huge rant about how anime is shit these days because they don't make more stuff like boku no pico. ScarHead, When someone watches nothing but the same types of anime (or anything else), of course it's gonna get a bit repetitive and formulaic over time. It gets to be an oxymoron to expect creativity and diversity from specific genres in a specific form of media. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there's only so many different ways you can tell a story that revolves around mecha for example. If mecha are involved, then that means there's probably gonna be a war going on, otherwise you get something like igpx. Mecha involvement also means it's almost guaranteed to be set in the future because of the hi-tech nature of them (unless you go with magic mecha like some anime). because the future of mankind is probably gonna be to explore space, that's why you're gonna get most mecha stories set in space. You also need to have a reason why traditional military vehicles aren't being used, and 'typically' this is because the threat has escalated to where combat has had to evolve drastically to match it, which means you're probably dealing with large scale destruction and/or a massive threat. So now you're left with a mecha story in space set in future during a very large scale war. This alone is gonna limit the kind of stories you can tell a fair bit. That said, you've still got a little breathing room to do different things, and some do. You can have the setting be after the war like Sora no Woto, you can have something like Gargantia in which a pilot goes awol to a backwater planet, or you could have the mehca/war be more of a backdrop to tell a different kind of story like in Kannazuki no Miko or Escaflowne. Point is, there's a reason why mecha anime (not MECH, the fug is wrong with you?) are so similar, but there -are- anime out there that break away from the norm in spite of limitations like some of those mentioned before.

I think you're getting a bit of a misconception on what I'm saying here. You're misconceiving what I mean by depth, and originality in story-lines. Why wouldn't I use Ghost in the Shell as an Example? That's an example of an original story, High Level Metaphysical and IQ content, a rarity and a masterpiece. I was merely using the example of the new rendition being such a shadow in terms of story as it's former. Of course I know there are more genres, no need to point out the obvious. Again, another misconception. I never said people pull things out of thin air didn't I, look up the definition of metaphysics. That's depth, and deep. How thing's use to be done, these days it's not nearly on the same level. I'm merely pointing out the lack of originality in presenting things these days. Ghost in the shell presented well thought out analyzed themes in an original way, not a meme way. What do we mainly see today though? Certainly nothing on this level. http://youtu.be/XHfs7OQ_Cwk?t=3m20s First off, I'm not an Otaku, I'm not a Weeabo, or a neet. I've never identified myself as such, and never will. Lol, what examples are you wanting me to use? You just jumped over and ignored the point, about the comparison between Kai and Z. I'm not here to dance around the issue. I was just using the most obvious examples, and comparisons and more than just those two. I can go into shows like GenoCyber, but heh no parallels to be made there really. Listen, again I was just stating my opinion. You've made yours clear, I just don't see things the same way. If I find something on the level I'm looking for, I'll watch it. If not, then I won't watch it. It's called Discernment.
