The endless war. A chaotic, hectic, endless war. Where bullets reveal, a river of red. Defending what we're fighting for, But knowing our end is with the dead. A solemn war, bathed in gunfire. A fear filled field, covered in fire. The soldiers lay, in tattered attire, As the smoke of war, reaches higher and higher. A single soldier, so overwhelmed. He takes cover from the artillery hail. And though this soldier stands alone, He knows in heart he cannot fail. The bullets slow; the bombs stop crashing. The explosions in sky, they do stop flashing. The soldier stops, and see's what's passing; But a fleeting thought, that isn't lasting. As soon as the distraction, promptly leaves, The war continues, ash in the breeze. The enemies seem, to do as the please, As the lone soldier, drops to his knees. He clasps at his head, as the bombs crack thunder. Tearing his whole, reality, asunder. He feels the bullets, pierce his skin. Although no blood flow, from within. The soldier collapses, out of breath. Awaiting his, accepted death. But the soldier watches, as time stops again And a vision, visits, a memorable friend. The vision sits, and stays awhile, They laugh, tell jokes, and avoid the trial. Then the vision stands, and with a smile, Says, "it's time, you faced, yourself, my child" The soldiers reaches, but only in vain. Time moves again, the soldier in pain, The guns, they fire, and leave no stain, As the soldier's world, goes blank again. But afterward, this small reprieve, The soldier wakes, as if naive. He returns to the field, as thoughts bomb more, And sanity depletes slowly, in this endless war.
