A war has raged for 100 years, and a skilled mercenary named Guts is hired by a company to fight for its leader's unyielding dream

For three years, Guts believed his mission was to pursue Griffith's dream together with him. But in order to become Griffith's equal and truly be called his friend, Guts realizes he will have to leave the Band of the Hawk.

Griffith is freed from prison but mentally and physically severely tortured and barely alive. At the moment he tries to end his life, a solar eclipse occurs, which draws him, Guts, Casca and the remaining army of his into another dimension, where a hopeless battle with powerful demons obliterates Griffith's army.

After accidentally killing a government official’s son in a fight, Mugen and Jin are seized, and are sentenced for execution. Fuu successfully saves the two warriors, and hires them to accompany her during her search for a samurai “who smells of sunflowers” which may lead to her father.
