OLD vs NEW ANIME...

joseph87mar
Why the heck are OLD Anime way better than NEW anime? I'm watching an OLD anime(OLDER THAN ME) called "Aura Battler Dunbine" made in 1983, with the genre I don't like. This anime is "MECHA," not my favorite genre, yet this anime has me glued to it. The ART suck, yet not for the time it was made. Still, I'm glued. Why???

Well, that's a loaded question. Maybe that particular storyline just hooked you in better. The budget back then might've been the same now (taking inflation into account) It's new and refreshing (new as in experience) Old Anime are where most of the anime tropes come from Old Anime appealed to a wider audience rather than niche ones. Since their art wasn't the main focus, they put more time into the storyline. Nostalgia is usually it Old Art style isn't necessarily bad, it's usually just not as cute. Are all old anime better than new ones? Well, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It's up to you to decide. I personally enjoy newer anime (2004+). But that's not to say I didn't enjoy the classics, such as Samurai X. But my guess to your question is because the fan base isn't as large for that particular anime. People hate/love on our lord and savior, Kirito (praise be unto him) because of how popular SAO is. So my guess is: it's more so the fan base that got you hooked onto ABD and that it is mostly undiscovered. That's why I think that people who revert to the classics go for that, because it's become undiscovered/unexplored.

No. People hate on Kirito because SAO, season 1 & 2, sucked and instead of people giving that anime the boot it deserved, they saw the potential that SAO had and hyped it up.That's my opinion As to answer Jojo's answer, its as Sunday said, it's cause of a few reasons. Story, OST, graphics (most of the time), significance/relevance to current events, and the list goes on.

As much as I love old anime, I still watch the new stuff, don't I? Personally, the early 2000s were my favorite era of anime. Right about the time love hina was adapted, actually. But I love what came before that, and I'm still in love with the modern stuff. Especially with the recent twist in the norm a lot of recent anime are taking, with bigger, more epic stories.
