So how about that School Days anime?

I don't know guys, everyone said it was the worst anime ever. Going into it, that was the only thing I knew about it. And I have to say, I thought it was hilariously dark and satirical. Like, I don't know if maybe it's being taken seriously? Gonna try to avoid spoilers, but I thought considering I saw it as a satire the whole time, the ending was pretty brilliant and it had me laughing, crying, and punching my cat all at the same time. Anyone else seen this show and have any opinions on it? I have some strong opinions about certain parts but I'm waiting to see if anyone else has actually seen it first lol.

(No major spoilers ahead) It started pretty normal, guy like one of the prettiest girl in school but both are shy and stuff. Then little by little it made me pissed and even angry because nearly everyone were a bunch of asses and backstabbers. I understand they have a motivation and need to be competitive to get the guy, maybe it's an insane reason but at least it's somewhat realistic. Until the taller girl of group of friends have sex with someone and the shorter girl of that group decide they should take pics of her doing it and share them to everyone.... why? I thought they were friends?? (I might be missing some details about that part though, it's been years since I've watched School Days). I didn't stop watching because a friend told me it's important to watch until the end, and well, it's very short anyway. And I wasn't lied to. The "beginning of the end" came suddenly and was brilliant, enjoyable and totally worth watching the awful build up.

Yah, so, playing off what you said about realism... that's partly why I decided it HAS to be a satire. 'Cause at the beginning of the show it's totally normal and completely cliche. Here's this loser Makoto who likes the prettiest girl in school. He doesn't think he has a shot but little does he know she actually likes him too! It got interesting when Sekai came into the mix though, because while you'd think that would be a cliche plot twist, I've never actually seen that kind of intense cheating thing happen in a romance/slice of life before. This show got so creepy though. At the point where Makoto basically becomes the scum of the earth and Kotonoha goes insane I pretty much wanted to bash my monitors in because nothing anyone was doing was making any sense lol. To me, that was the brilliance of the show though. It progressed kind of like a horror show would despite making you think it was some slice of life show for the whole first half. It's like the show started developing some weird disease and it just got worse and worse until it finally died. God, that ending though... XD And remember how you see the cell phone at the end of every show? And how it was blank after the last episode? Crazy shit dude...

Now that we're talking about, it really does seem like that that anime's a satire. I don't know if it's the same with the visual novel though.

The visual novel was interesting because you could either not be a scumbag and get a typical, boring romance ending... or you could be a scumbag and it plays out like the anime lol. The anime did a great job of adapting the most interesting parts of the VN in my opinion. That said, whether or not the VN was intended to be satire or just shocking is hard to say. I don't remember it well enough tbh :/

The male lead was realistic up until the point where he turns into Satan XD Also, there were some hentai spinoffs made that were called... Summer Days I think? I've been avoiding them though because eh. I agree with neet-one on the point that it's old so it doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Satan? All he does is bang every girl he can like most teen guys I've known. And he's totally clueless about how his actions are affecting the girls that actually like him till the end and it's too late...
