Forgotten Underdog Anime?

dragonflykite
What are some anime that you think just slip through the cracks? I personally liked Last Exile.I watched it when I was 14 on G4 when it was still a network.I bought the whole series awhile back because I remembered it was a pretty good series...

Scrapped Princess comes to mind. It's a show that pretty much no one knows about but it landed up being pretty good. Nice story with some entertaining characters and a plot twist that really elevates the series as a whole.

Nothing wrong with watching mainstream stuff if that's your cup of tea. I tend to stick to the shorter anime tho just because I don't like when things drag on. There are a lot of lesser known anime that are great I just named the most obscure one i could think of that I actually liked.

I can totally agree with overdoing it with stuff like 100+ episodes as wayyy too long. Two perfect mainstream I can think of as too drawn out for examples would be Inuyasha and Naruto. Both became instant hits but after awhile your practically begging for a conclusion. Now FLCL was rare.It only had 6 episodes but was a huge hit.Til this day it remains my favorite

I think it's laughable to call anything that's aired internationally an 'Underdog Anime'. You only got to see it in the first place because it was already big in japan. If you want real underdog anime look at something like Gdgd or Tesagure. Those are about as low in budget, bare bone staffed, and under the radar as you can get. The creators really didn't expect much from them yet they sold surprisingly well resulting in a few squeals spinoffs and a movie.

If it's not/was not on Adult swim or omfg superpopular, is it underrated? Cause I can post a few then... Just want your definition..

I think Guin Saga is an underestimated anime. It is only 26 episodes, and aired in 2009. The actual written novels, are the longest single writers works in the world. The author Kaoru became ill, and eventually couldn't write anymore. It is an excellent story that should definately have more credit!
