Sword Art Online: Thoughts

hieroglyphics
What did you guys think of the premiere of Sword Art online? I was shown at 2:00 AM on Sunday, July 28. I think it's pretty cool. The story isn't the most original, but it can be a great anime one day. What did you think of it? By the way...the Game Master's English dubbed voice is not good at all and doesn't sound even slightly intimidating.

I originally saw Sword Art Online subbed about a few months back and was surprised to hear we've already got a dubbed version airing in America. I thought the anime was good. The second half of the series wasn't as good (and I felt it a bit unnecessary), but overall the anime is worth a watch. Dubbed voices always sound a bit odd at first, but after a while you get used to them, usually. I agree with your point about the Game Master's dub voice though. It sounded too "soothing" for a villainous character of his type.

I haven't seen the anime but I've read the manga. From what I've read so far it's pretty good.

I loved the whole concept of if you die in the game you die in life. IDKY but it just made me want to keep watching it lol

I just started watching the dub and it seems really interesting especially that the characters can actually die in real life.

I prefer the sub version than dub

I saw sub version awhile ago. I really enjoyed it. It gave me the "feels".

This series has been my big obsession ever since it first started showing on Crunchy last year. It's inspired an absolutely ridiculous amount of fanfic. Agreed that the second half (what's referred to as the "Fairy Dance" arc) goes downhill. There's a lot of reasons for that, one of which is simply that it's SAO's weakest arc even in the original light novels. Sugou is a ridiculous villain, Kirito's sister is whiny and annoying most of the time, the whole contrived love triangle there is kind of eye-rolling, and the gratuitous Sugu/Leafa fanservice just feels out of place. But if you read the light novels, do keep going; the stories after this get much better. Really hoping they animate GGO for a second season, or at least a movie/OVA.

I like the sub version better than the dubbed but overall I this sao was a great anime. The storyline and romance was great. The 2nd half didn't keep my interest too much bc it was no longer about life and death, I wish that there were a few more episodes showing some other fights on the different floor levels but I enjoyed the show
