Politics and music separation

it seems i am pondering this topic at least once a day, Media mainliners want to drag down anyone they believe will put up a good intermission. It happens more often than i want to believe, I mean there are some artists out there who have an idea and want to expand on it through there own medium, but all the other artists who jeopardize actual movements by show boating give themselves a bad reputation. So should music continue to help in struggles or keep itself in toward its own genre. I support certain groups and would love to see them continue to try and make a difference, i just wanted a to inquire everyone else's opinion o help mine.

genres like rock, pop, and rap are just to vague, people who dont listin to that type of music only get to hear what there music company wants them to hear (via radio ,tv ,etc.) while people like you listin to the good quallity music in your genre, un-experience people think they all sound alike. its sad but when u live in a world controlled by money, give the people wat they want.

Thanks, nice to see the world is not fully tapped unto the minds of the void. Keep it up dude, individualism is the only thing we as a society can keep intact, the only thing is we are so easy to bend, man the bigger picture is too difficult to perceive to the general public, Irony.

sad thing is when a actual artist does get a record deal, they have to change there whole image or they'll be broke again and even if that person falls off they cant go to the type of music before because they sold out

True true, I mean unless you can find yourself a very small record label odds are you will have to assimilate in towards their perspective. Like old bands such as Io perry, and rancid got lucky. though not all get to keep their sound.

either way its all about just liking music weither it be main stream or not cause to be honest there are A FEW good ones (and i mean "a few")

whats the point of selling out as an artist if your just going to losse all your orignality i mean become big and rich is good and all but i dont think at the price of your own sound its just not worth it you know

Thats why i recently started listening too only indie bands, They are always striving for the top, when the artist stops being indie I can say I no longer listen too them. This is how the world works.

I think musical art works best as a political medium when the art comes first, then the subject matter comes second; I give as example the song <i>Cigaro</i> by System of a Down, which is a song that freakin' rocks, and just so happens to be about the Big Business/Government Conglomerate's raping of the earth and it's bounty . . .

Well I veiw music and politics as oil and water they shouldn't be mixed lightly. Or maybe I should say either a song should be fun or political simply because the fun song has inconsequental aspects ment shearly for enjoyment and the political veiw or concern has aspects that shouldn't be trivalized. not every musican can balance it out.Then you have the exceptions like Flobots or system of a down that on ocassions completly nail both, mixing oil and water into some cool like Handle bars or Hypnotize.
