It kills me when people are too scared to watch horror films. I love them! Hmm tell your dad that you can handle it XD & if you feel you can't handle some, make sure you watch them with someone and if possible, in a well lit area, then you'll get used to them more. My father actually got me hooked. He let me watch them even as a baby and I just grew up on them. Good luck~!

You can block your ears and turn away when you start to get scared. I have a friend who does that whenever we watch a movie and a scene comes up that she just can't watch. I spent the whole movie of the Exorcism of Emily Rose with a head buried in my shoulder. Try blocking your ears though. A lot of that is just suspense which is really built up through the sound design

I can't handle most horror, in particular zombies, but when I know I'm going to have to (like when my best friend insists I come over for movie night) I do the following: First, I focus on a brand of horror that I know I'll enjoy, even when I'm scared. In my case, I have an attachment to werewolves and vampires, for reasons I won't get into here. Most of what gets me in horror is stuff popping out, I loathe being startled, so I watched poppy movies, like 30 Days of Night. Next, I watched some mild horror anime. My recommendations to you, in particular because of the nature of the movie, are thus: The Village (M. Night Shyamalan version, surprisingly mild), Red Riding Hood (I think is the name of it, it's the newer one with Gary Oldman), and the anime Ghost Hunt. Ghost Hunt has a creepy factor, especially in the second story arc called Doll House, and it has a similar vibe, but it's really enjoyable and not "always creepy". It can also be pretty damn funny.

Do what i did over the years and drown yourself in horror, im 18 now and i played almost every horror game and seen almost every horror movie worth seeing, none bother me any more, im immune to horror now. And on a side note, the asia countries make the best horror movies, assuming subtitles don't bother you.

I think horror movies are either funny/irritating(depends on the movie). Tolerance? Just watch more movies.
