Yea I agree with Sandman here.. they go just as bad the other way when focusing the show to adolescent girls too I mean (and don't get me wrong) All the guys in Ouran High are bit to Bishie and Princess Princess I mean little over the top and even shows that try to draw both Male and Female in they tend to go to extremes I mean Maid Sama both the guy and the girl were just a bit over the top, when that same year ya go a more realistic group of characters in Kimi Ni Todoke which most folks still loved too so I think they just need to take a closer look at folks out there and change it up a bit because these days it isn't even just the genres like Harem and Ecchi that are going over the top but some shows that didn't even need fan service are getting it..

What one must realize is that Anime/Manga is a portion art, and a portion entertainment. Therefore, many elements will be exaggerated or overstylized either as the artist's style, or, to play to a target demographic. There have been great strides of late to down play some of the traditional elements of the female form in Anime, and even since the early days there have been strong independant female leads(yes often with over stylized breasts)..but increasingly various genres have been becoming more progressive. Back in my day you got what you got, but now there are just so many choices it should be a lot easier to find something less offensive.

You have to keep in mind things like genre and target audience. ex: Harems are mostly targeted towards a male audience hence all the fan service and girls with massive boobs that bounce with every movement. The fan service that's most annoying to me are the osen scenes, with the female characters grouping each other and doing other questionable things. Especially when the genre is slice of life. Now think about genres mostly targeted for us girls. Bishies or pretty boys who sometimes seem very effeminate. We don't get too much fan service (unless it's like yaoi or BL). There was one anime that flashed a guys ass and some people didn't appreciate that.

Awwww Momo no one talks s*** about K-on, them's fightin words hahaha! Srs business though it's a cultural thing, and we do it too. We have plenty of objectifying women and general horndoging in our tv shows and movies. Just take a bond film for example.
