Cosplay business

Have you ever been to a con and see someone cosplaying but they look NOTHING like the character, like they didn't even try. Like they just got up that day threw on the costume, slapped on the wig and walked out the door? I HATE THATTT UGHHH EWWWW BLEGHEJDJEJDJSHE!!! Sure, cosplaying is for fun and you may not resemble the character that much but atleast make an EFFORT! If the character has big anime eyes, freckles or any other distinctive facial feature, USE MAKE UP! You may think you're cute but that won't mean shit if you don't use make up especially when doing photoshoot! If the character has a certain color hair, WEAR WIGS! ( a neat, clean one that you brushed out) If the character has a slim figure and you don't, USE SPANXS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! That last one is rather important. I can't tell you how many times I've seen chubby people cosplay and they look like if they fart the costume's gonna fly the fuck off. Cosplay is for fun I understand that and not everone is a makeup artist but atleast TRY? If you're only gonna do it half assed, why do it at all????

I've done Kagome and not dyed my hair or put a wig on before, just didn't feel like it that day. Also I have my boundaries for character weight vs real weight (if the costume looks like it could break at any sec and that's not the original intent of the character, something is wrong). Sometimes it's not possible to be the same shape as the character and you make due because you love them and want to make your own representation. Also not everyone can buy wigs or knows how to work with them. I agree that makeup should be used when possible, it helps portray the look better, but also have to say some people don't know how to use or buy contacts (or it may bother their eyes) so eye colors don't match sometimes. In my opinion, cosplay is a hobby and the person decides how much effort to put into making it the best. I don't do photoshoots thus far, so I'm in the eh group. I do try my best on costumes though and wish to display my skills. I'm perfectionistic in that sense.
