science or religion what's your opinion

I think China did just fine trying to abolish western religion, Christianity and Islam especially have so many things wrong, they manipulate people so much and the sects just fight each other, Judaism at least has some internal peace because of past persecution. If I were a nation leader I would rule with pure Ayn Rand system: Lassiez-Faire, economics, anti-moralism, max self freedom and only enough taxes to maintain a self-defense force, police force, fire dept and basic services. I wasn't trying to say you don't know what you're talking about but the media and literature bias over here is strong. Not for their economic system really, but they do OK as a nation and I would live there rather than the US sometimes.

China's government has a history of manipulating people just the same. You risk a lot if you speak out against their government (which for them is a sort of deity). There is absolutely no excuse for jailing or killing people many of the people that China does. None. Your accusations against religion are very similar to accusations people can make against non-religion. There are instances of absolute injustice everywhere in the world. The U.S. too has an extreme history too that many people ignore, not to mention some shady activities in the present. My point of bringing up China is that while religions have had their own bad influence so has athiestic based thinking. At least in the U.S. if you don't like something you can say something about it or someone else can say something in your place. Global media coverage has forced China to lessen that stance some, but if you think it's all just disappeared you're mistaken. And I'd be willing to bet your Ayn Rand system would fail. Oh and you don't know much about Judaism if you think they have internal peace (I recommend reading some works by Chaim Potok if you'd like a narrative that covers the issue with some realism). What kinds of things did you do while in China? Did you go to Beijing, Shanghai, or elsewhere?

Everybody needs alittle faith in something. Everybody needs something to turn to when all hope is lost. That being said discriminating someone for their beliefs is absolute bullshit. If someone believes that a stork shit them out so they could live a peaceful life so be it. If someone just so happens to not believe anything then thats just hokey pokey then. As long as the person isn't bothering anyone why should it matter? No one should be forced to believe or not to believe anything.

Personally I'm an atheist but I don't think religion is inherently bad. Some people need to think that there's a higher power out there, some don't. I think people who are theists are strong in ways that nontheists aren't. There's something to be said about people who really really have faith in something that can't be proven. I personally don't have that kind of faith, I like evidence which some might call prudent but I think having faith and really being able to believe in something is a strength, especially since I don't have it. On the China bit, China isn't actually bad because of the lack of a large theist population. And China does have a huge and widespread population of believers in every faith. There's churches, mosques, shrines and temples that have been there for a good amount of time that have nothing to do with international media coverage. China's real issue is corruption within the government, like the whole Bo Xilai situation. There's even a liberal to conservative scale in the government officials. But when corrupt officials start throwing their weight around and supporting one another under the table, that's where all your serious issues come from. But then widespread corruption isn't exactly new in China, it's been a problem with all the government since the start of the dynasties.

Haters gone hate. What ever you believe in or know, just don't be a dick to people. I think that's easy enough to do.
