since i keep my figure despite my mostly relaxed lifestyle i also expect a guy to take good care of themselves. also i hate to sound shallow but people who are noticeably overweight are unattractive and it sends out the message that you do not take care of yourself

I don't mind a girl being somewhat overweight since I have a bit of a spare tire myself, but I'd probably have a hard time dating someone who weighed quite a bit more than myself. I'm not trying to be shallow or anything, and it can also depend on how someone carries that extra weight, their height, etc. as well, but it's hard to be in a relationship with someone you're not attracted to and excessive weight is one of those things I don't find very attractive. I'm about 180 myself, so I'm definitely not the epitome of the male species when it comes to physical attributes by any means. :P

(*tone of this is explanatory*) Hon, I don't control what goes on on the stove in my house, as I still live with the 'rents. When I go out to eat (or even rarer, am able to cook my own meals), I usually like going for fish, particularly snow crab when I can afford it. It's not just diet for me, it's genetics and activity level. In my bro's case, he went vegitarian and got a job at walmart pushing carts 4 years ago and has lost 60 lbs. With the women in my family, with equal amount of effort and sensible dieting (yes, a lot smaller portions than what mom likes to serve and I wasn't about to cut out meat), I lost half that. I was really gunning for it too, going to the gym at the community center at least twice a week and part of it was spent powerwalking the local mall with a friend (the mall is about a mile in length for one lap). I really don't think it's my mindset at this point, but genetics and needing to cut my family's influence out of my life. As far as the hypocrisy, why shouldn't a guy like me for what's inside? I like my inside, as it's not my body. What I don't like is the mistake I made that was fueled by my (very fresh at the time) PTSD/depression combo when I was 11 to make sure I'd never be hurt like that again. That decision is what I'm regretting now, and I'm stuck in a place where I won't be able to change it til I'm out of this house (both my parents are obese and so is my bro, even though he's lost weight). There are always extenuating circumstances to the weight, I just prefer a partner to understand why I'm this way currently and maybe feel nice enough to want to help with it than just criticizing me for it or love it and then leave when I finally hit that particular target.

Most guys I've dated are pretty slender, My last boyfriend was obsessed with working out, so he was actually pretty buff. My current boyfriend is naturally very thin, but his desk job is giving him a bit of a belly now. :P He's still the cutest thing that ever existed.

This thread is funny to me reading some replies. Anyway; weight if you are to a level of weight where it is a hindrance everywhere you go than you can't expect people to find you attractive. However, doesn't mean you can't work on youself and improve. You actually have a better chance than people who look sickly thin. I had girlfriend that kept complaining about being thin. I never said anything about it but she still was self conscious . The weird thing is some people can't put weight on at all. And if they try to force it they can give themselves a heart attack even though they are thing. At times they don't even know it but they could be seriously ill. Not being able to retain nutrients could lead to death. Everyone should aim for a balance weight which your doctor knows is correct for you height and built. Muscle bound people can't handle endurance test because their muscles burn too much energy. They usually starve to death faster in survival conditions. Their actually all kinds of conditions out there the moment you do too much of something it hurts you more than help you. That's why even though I am over weight I decided it was best to lose weight staying active by doing things I love.
