Yugioh is a lot easier than magic. It's not a bad place to start if you want to start playing card games.

Though when you get up into tournament play it can get complicated, it is easier to just pick up and play with your friends.

@icymjp That does sound intense but yeah I never played that shahrazad. Just EDH, two-headed Giant, casual, draft and a couple of others. Yu-Gi-Oh is easier to get into yet both of them have faster games if you go into the tournament scene. It is easier to start playing casual to get a hang of the game but that doesnt work with everyone though.

I played EDH a few time, I never really liked it much. None of my friends could keep up, because I just changed my artifact deck to EDH, and ran over everyone with my low cost general with flying. No one could get anything out fast enough to stop the damage.

As someone that plays both YuGiOh and Magic. I have to say that YuGiOh is more complicated. The basic rules are easier, but magic is very straightforward in it's playstyles, and there aren't very many strategies. Duelists can build a deck with a variety of playstyles, and one mistake can be impossible to recover from. The difference between YuGiOh and Magic, is that it's more complicated building a YuGiOh deck, because you have to take into account how every card will combo with every other card, and with Magic, the strategy is more in game. So bothneed skill, just in different areas. Not trying to be all defensive, it's just that Duelists and Magic players always think their game is more complicated, but only because they take skill in different areas. Yugioh is more of a deckbuilder game, and magic has more in gamr strategy. Although both need to be smart in both areas.

Yes, there was ronined, there was even a myosynth golem, which gave all other artifact affinity. As for which is more complicated, I was a big player of both games too. And yugioh can get very complex. But I'd still say magic is more complicated because of how intricate the combos can get. I've played against decks that win on turn one. And I've gone to tournaments where I've seen someone win one turn 0. I'm not saying yugioh isn't a complicated game once you get to a certain level. It does take quite some skill in tournaments to know how to play when you can usually only summon one monster a turn and are limited to 5 at a time. But over all I still have to give it to Magic.

Yeah then that makes sense then considering how fast artifacts can enter the battlefield that way. Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic like what has been said have different ways of thinking. It really depends on what mindset you work the best in. As for myself, I have played both games for a long time either though duels with others or through the video games. No matter what both games have become broken to this day which really means that both are complicated in the way on how to make combos and make the deck work together. A card game is a card game. Some consider one easier than the other since they are used to playing it.
