I've never gotten into the mecha genre but I do enjoy the military genre. The one mecha anime I really enjoyed was aldnoah zero, that shit was a great show!

I remember watching Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans with my 2nd eldest brother. Idk if we got to finish it? But I remember we liked it, and I’ve never watched another Mecha anime again XD

Knights and magic was pretty good if I remember correctly, didn't he break down magic into programming or something to that effect? I've also watched both 86 and code Geass they weren't half bad.
