Sexy or Slutty?

misskittehcat
Hi guys~ as someone who does a few er-- racier cosplays i was wondering how others in the community felt about it? Is it good and empowering? is it disgraceful? is it annoying? is it fun? is it frustrating? I mean, I feel its empowering especially for people like me who can go days without talking :x Obviously, it's important to act classy in costumes such as these.. Do you think its ok to do cosplays like these as long as you act like a lady or gentleman? thoughts?

I've never seen any problem with other people's cosplay no matter how much or littler they're wearing as long as they're having fun doing it.

They could be naked for all I care. If that's the way people enjoy themselves cosplaying, more power to them. People should always be themselves regardless of others. Besides, a lot of "racier" cosplays are more conservative than what is seen as acceptable fashion.

honestly i love the personality and lifestyle of who they are. thats what truly counts in my book for beauty

If a girl feels confident enough in her looks and self to do it, I don't see much of a problem with it. There's a lot of over-sexulization in a lot of media these days, be it from anime to games to movies, so it's not surprisingly a lot of the fandom is reflecting this trend as well. No matter what you do, be it showing more skin or not, there's always going to be dissent amongst any fandom. That being said, I think if you're humble about it, most are pretty excepting of it. The problem is a lot of people take it to a level of pure attention whoring (both male and female) that tends to draw the most ire in the geek community.

well as long as the cosplayer actually likes the character and actually knows stuff about it it's ok, you know there's a lot of cosplayers who cosplay characters having no idea about them :C

I know what you're trying to ask, but there is no real answer. Some people look down on it, others are all for it. And both groups have any number of reasons.
