Hmmm weeaboo ... I guess I agree with the want of a Japanese lover part, but I'm not going to discriminate if the girl isn't *smirks*. But like Simon said I'm more of an enthusiast. I'm a mid-west guy I have more of a grounded sense of self. Now, that said I would love to be immersed in the neo and traditional Japanese lifestyle/culture to expand my mind so when I watch anime/read manga I can read untranslated versions and understand the different bon-festivals and shrine ceremonies that I see in them (mostly in Slice of Life genre titles).

I think theres a line that gets crossed from otaku to weeaboos. When you start dressing more japanese, talking the language or adding words from it to your native conversation when people you're talking to don't speak it, calling your friends chan, kun, or sempai, or start hating on anything non-japanese is when that line gets crossed.

I get annoyed when anime is compared to cartoons, but I like stuff non-Japanese and realize they aren't a perfect nation. They have their own issues with juvenile crime, but thats more because of the introduction of western ideas than anything else, and the extremely competitive school system, which isn't a bad thing, except the schools are even more exam focused than over here. I can call some friends words like -kun or -chan etc in a joking manner. but I don't do it to everyone or else adding loanwords from Japanese. The problem with weeaboos is they're the exact type of people Japanese don't really like, their version of Otaku. I have a few hobbies besides video games and anime, so I'm not obsessed with Japan by any means. But a large portion of Japanese don't really like the anime and manga exported and find it odd when english speakers act so annoying and like little kids in an ice cream shop when over in Japan. You've got to respect the culture as well and it seems the weeaboos I know only know whats in Manga or Anime.

I don't associate with weaboos. They are just fakes in disguise. It gets annoying when people pretend to be something they are not. It's no problem if you like certain shows, music, games, fashion, or whatever, but people who claim to be another race are just pathetic. I'm proud of my ethnicity and I'm accepting of it. I prefer being myself, instead of going by something else. Those types of people definitely need help.

Exactly how MEOW said it. I'm fine with being white and accepting I will always be a foreigner to the Japanese. But that doesn't stop me from trying to learn the language and culture, and who knows? I want to live in Japan and never come back to the US but I won't ever try to mislead that I'm Japanese, I'm not, I'll always be a Cuban/Irish who was born in the US and hates his own nationality.
