I don't trust free VPN's. Let me just say this. Why do people use VPN's? For quote, privacy/security, unquote. There are people that refuse to pay for VPNs and want free stuff. Now knowing this. If you were the US government, the Russian government, the Chinese government, the Iranian government or whatever other savvy government that spies on people. A little bulb would go off in their heads. What if we (as in the government) built our own free VPN? Think about it. All these people are worried about privacy/security. But they also want free stuff. It's the perfect cocktail. A government ran free VPN that siphons all your data and you'll never know. You may say. "Nah, you being crazy". Is it really that crazy of an idea? I'm no cyber security expert. But if I was the head of one of these government spy agencies. I would build the fastest free VPN that the world has ever fucking seen. Then I'll lick my fingers with all the free data that I'm collecting from all the free VPN users. Then there's people that don't trust anything that's too good, Lol. For those people. Make a few half assed free VPN's. It's the perfect Trojan horse. Yeah, "I'm worried about security and privacy". Ok, here have this free security program xoxo. Now, I'm not saying that there aren't legitimate free VPN's out there. Of course there are. But you'll never know which ones are free government run VPN's vs the legitimate free VPN's. Hence, I don't trust free VPN's. *loud burp* just my randumb thoughts

There's a site I use for my job that comes in really handy but only lets you have a certain amount of "free searches" within a 24 hr window. I flip my VPN on and it's all like "Hello Stranger..."

The government? Running their own VPN? You must not know how governments work. You make the people who are serious about privacy pay and yhen you harass those companies they paid to release data to you or else. Why tf would they make one?

"Why tf would they make one?" As in why would the government make a free VPN? I already gave reasons why. Can you not read? I'll repeat it again. A free VPN would be the perfect Trojan horse. People want internet security. People want free stuff. It's really not that difficult to comprehend. The government knows the former and the latter. A free VPN checks both boxes. In the government’s eyes. If people want a free VPN. Why not give it to the people? It would be very subtle, smart and advantages to make free VPN's that syphon people's data. But if that's too cryptic for you. I'll break it down even more for you. You are not wrong about one thing Pandus. The government does harass certain companies to release their data logs about their users. Some VPN's do keep data logs about their users. But not all VPN's keep data logs. If there are no data logs. Then how can the government demand for data logs that don't exist? Riddle me that doofus. What's your counter argument going to be? Oh well you see. The US government will force these VPN companies to keep data logs or else. Aha, except for the fact that some VPN's still don't keep data logs. Why don't some VPN's keep data logs? Some of these VPN's set their headquarters in some third world country out of US jurisdiction. Panama as an example. If the US government or some other government wants your data. They’re going to have get a lot smarter with the way they steal people's data. Publicly available information from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence puts the U.S intelligence community, which includes the CIA and NSA at a budget of 85.8 Billion. What do you think that the NSA is doing with the billions that they get? Is the government just harassing companies to release their data? If you think that. Then that is simplistic, naïve and ignorant. Quite frankly, you don’t know how government works. The government don’t solely use their billions of dollars to harass companies. No, a lot of that money is spent on algorithms, programs, data centers, etc. to spy on people. As an example. The NSA cracked a certain form of elliptic curve cryptography. The NSA hired some of the best cryptographers, computer scientist and mathematicians to decrypt a certain form of a elliptic curve cryptography. That type of work does not come cheap. No average Joe hacker can pull off that level of sophistication. Stuff that is way over my head. Stuff that is way over your head. All the math behind elliptic curve cracking is completely classified. It’s one of those open secrets. People know that the government can crack elliptic curves. But people don’t know how the government is cracking elliptic curve cryptography. You may say. Ok? What does free VPN’s have to do with cracking elliptic curve cryptography? My point is very simple. If the government wants to steal your data. It has to do more than just harass companies for your data. The government has to think outside the box. What does thinking outside the box entail? Things like running free VPNs. Cracking elliptic curve cryptography that was previously thought safe. Picking up little cookie crumbs that you leave on the internet. Such as running algos that determine how fast you type, what you type, when you type it etc. Even if you think you’re anonymous online. There are a million and one ways to determine who you are. The government has billions of dollars to spend. Harassing companies is only the tip of the iceberg. There are more subtle ways to steal people’s data under the iceberg. @hell_hound7 Reference: https://www.dni.gov/index.php/what-we-do/ic-budget https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulg_AHBOIQU&ab_channel=Numberphile

Well with all that money wouldnt it be easier to pay popular VPN's to start logging data? I mean look at how facebook has started pushing onto whatsapp to start adding in their privacy policy that they will start keeping a log of stuff....but wasnt whatsapp end to end encryption? Meaning only me and you have a key and no one else can see that? Wouldnt that defeat the purpose? What im saying is everyone has a price unless you rather ditch money in favor of whats right. But then again ur talking millions of dollars. Free VPN arent a surefire way to get data tho cuz people can use a VPN and an alternative program ontop of the VPN and how are they gonna get your data now? Wven the smart dudes knownwhat VPn's are good and which arent sonthey wont just blindly trust something free. Ur just gonna get the avwrage dumb dumb who doesnt wanna pay.
