October 2000. I was 15 years old, sitting in a theater watching the first Digimon movie. I was the most hardcore of Digimon fan, but I had no idea what to expect going into this film, and as far as I was concerned there was nothing that could possibly be more epic than WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. And then this majestic son of a bitch happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9GJOWkLrg0 It's kinda hard to replicate that kind of feeling when we're so deep in internet culture that nothing can take us by surprise anymore, but bear in mind that not everyone was online in 2000 and in the show DNA digivolving wasn't a thing yet. The sheer feeling of pantshitting amazement and the orchestral swell (which is then destroyed by millennial pop music, dammit) plus the fact that this was gorgeously animated and on the big screen, has never been replicated for me in any anime or otherwise.

I remember wanting to throw my remote when Eren was ate by a Titan. Frustration doesn't BEGIN to describe the emotional roller coaster I was on the first 8 episodes. Thinking back on it, it's hilarious how angry I was. Then as far as sobfests, I've had those watching Fairy Tail and Jonjou Romantica. And the Yui /baseball episode of Angelbeats. There's too many!
