I like northern California. You don't have to salt roads but you're only 2 hours from snow and great slopes.

Winter guy myself I love the sound of rain when i'm in bed, I find it very calming and helps me sleep too. I also find it much easier to stay warm in winter then to stay cool in summer, then again I do live in Australia so that might have something to do with it. I can imagine staying warm in a really cold country like Russia would be a bit annoying.
