Ten things to know about me before "getting to know" me on a deeper level:

1) First and foremost, I'm an artist. I self-published a doujinshi the last time I lived in Japan and submitted to Shounen Jump's international manga contests. I'm also colorblind.

2) I'm quite fluent at spoken Japanese, including linguistic pronunciation, cultural "acting", and that "professional" Japanese needed to be an adult in Japan. Japanese people tend to never realize it's me over the phone until I say it's me and get an, "...eh? Ah. ...Eh?"

3) I'm a non-professional musician/singer who plays piano by ear and sings karaoke for fun. I guess I won a karaoke contest against native Japanese locals when I was sick, but I think they were more impressed by my determination and non-Japanese-ness than my voice and took pity on me. I. Sing. In. The. Shower. That is all.

4) I'm quite feminine for a guy, and I'm somewhat proud of this. My biggest inspirations in life have almost all been women and I feel like I've been an open-minded feminist since I was young. I also love pink, cute fashion, and shoujo/josei manga. I'm shy and emotionally sensitive, if you consider those sorts of things "unmanly".

5) I'm too honest for my own good. If I ever say something critical about someone or something, I'm not trying to be mean or aggressive. I'm basically just saying "I care about you/this enough to want to see you/it get better". I DO try to make it come off as friendly and open-minded as possible, but I also suck with words.

6) Pokemon. I'm obsessed. But calm with my obsession. But still obsessed. Some things come close, but never do they usurp the throne upon which my Pikachu overlords reside.

7) Did I mention I lived in Japan before? Okay, three times. Once in high school with a host family and a school enrollment, once to study abroad in college, and once for a full work contract. Japan is a bit of my life.

8) As such, I'm a global citizen. I'm proud of being an American, but my global values tend to come first. Humans may be horrible creatures, but humans are also amazing things. If I can, I'd like to contribute someday to tackling some of the complex world-suck out there.

9) Creativity is not just limited to drawing, writing, musician...ing, and so on. I tend to like to be creative in life in general. I buy figures to collect them, but when I show them off, I tend to go above and beyond simply displaying them on a shelf. I like decorating my living space to look nice, so people who aren't otaku can see my room and think, "Oh, that looks nice!", even if it is covered from ceiling to floor in posters, tapestries, figures, and shelves of manga...

10) I highly value intelligence, wisdom, self-awareness, and open-mindedness. If it's complex, I will tackle it. I do not judge people or things on an emotional or moral level. Rather, I seek to learn and teach whenever possible. As such, I appreciate anyone willing to read this whole page. It means a lot to me. ^^ As a bonus, I'll confess one last thing that hopefully doesn't scare anyone away after I put so much effort into this textwall: Remember that doujinshi I self-published? It was my first ever erotic work. Once this year (2018) is done, it won't have been my last... >_>

Anyway, hit me up in a message! I'm not picky about my friends. <3
