Hmmm, that's no good... I understand their POV , but its not their decision to make if someone chooses to transition or not. Some would miss being able to feel an actual release, and so i've met a few who chose not to do surgery just for that reason. But still, it's not their choice to make so I don't understand why they would be like that. :(

Of course they need to seek treatment, they may have underlying conditions that may cause them to feel that way. I can understand people not wanting to either from fear of psychiatry or otherwise, but its not good to not talk to someone about it. When I say "seek treatment" I mean not necessarily go and get hormones etc, but talk to a psychiatrist, and answer the psychiatrists' questions honestly and from there, you can receive more information on diagnosis, or more insight about yourself. At the end of the day, when I asked my psychologist last time I saw him about it ( he highly supports the trans patients in my area and has worked to ensure they don't get discriminated ) that it is highly unusual to find a patient who identifies as trans without dysphoria about his/her bodies. He said he can't go into detail about his other patients, but that he got a lot of them that were suffering from psychological or sexual abuse that didn't match it up. He said as a rule that anyone who comes before him about it, he tries to stabilize any underlying disorders to ensure that they've genuine dysphoria. Several psych majors in college I'm friends with echoed similar responses. I was not trying to in any way make you feel like you have to argue your existence, I'm more just stating an opinion, which is a lot like an asshole - everyone has one and they all stink. I'm not trying to explain away anything, rather, I must remain skeptical without science backing it. As far as where I've garnered the support for my statement that, in fact, people who are trans generally conform to the gender binary, one such source is in the section "Understanding the transsexual patient: culturally sensitive care in emergency nursing practice", in the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal. The authors make statements that say essentially that most trans people interviewed did not see a distinction in regards to them with the gender binary - in other words, they supported it. It can be difficult to get others to recognize your existence - I know that struggle well. So you have heard this from my mouth. Anymore questions?

Rather than using a snarl word to invalidate what I say, can you really try to answer me with a supported answer? Its been shown that a significant majority of trans people conform to a gender binary, and currently in the US and most other progressive countries you're required to undergo psychiatric and medical treatment for gender recognition. This is because the DSM V has a classified definition of transgender and its roots in the psychiatric field. If you're going to call a medical profession which specializes in helping people be more happy and secure with their lives crank science, then you're doing yourself a disfavor. I am supportive of trans people who seek treatment. Same with depressed, schizophrenic and other people with psychiatric problems. You want some good literature on this? First off, Silence of the Lambs, because Jame Gumb is transgender but he has strong contraindications due to his destructive psychiatric behavior. It is a good book that really puts into perspective why you have to seek psychiatric treatment. The suicide rate of trans people who don't successfully transition is close to 50%. I'm in the field encouraging them to seek treatment because they often have other, underlying problems. Treatment includes transitioning via clothing, HRT and SRS. This is not crank. This is SUPPORTED science. So please, don't discredit me based on you not understanding my reasoning. Please. I'm honestly in support of trans people. And I'd be fully willing to change my opinion on non-binary people if there was evidence by the psychiatric community that the people who claim it are, in fact, mentally sound. Now that I've explained this out, does it make more sense to you? because I'm certainly tired of getting flak'd about this.

Nobody's being transphobic here. Out of the LGBTQ umbrella, T and Q are standalone. Don't conflate my views. I'm not transphobic. I'm supportive of trans people but not of those who aren't willing to go the full way. So nope. Sorry. I'm possibly considered Queer-phobic if you want to manufacture a term, but that's not the case. Try again.

Transphobic? Sounds like you're dealing with some stuff. I'm genderfluid, so I understand to a degree, but not quite.
