Are you more averse to guilt or shame?

I should have been more specific. The point of the question was to ask if the people here were personally more strongly affected by how others percieve them or motivated by their own principles. Specifically in regards to when they make mistakes. In simpler terms when you fuck up, does it bug you more that you fucked up or that other people might think less of you for fucking up?

There have been mistakes I made that caused disappointment in myself cuz I knew better. The effect of how the person sees me happens after that. So technically both ways, but disappointment in myself comes first.

In that case, I'm almost entirely motivated by my own principles. I have regrets, but they're very few and far between. I try not to make mistakes, and when I do I try to make sure they are honest mistakes. If others come to rely on me for something that I cannot do, I will tell them, and when they do it anyways, I will not feel guilty. I recognize my own and everyone else's human limitations, and I don't particularly care if someone else doesn't understand those limitations. When I do make a critical mistake it'll eat at me a little. I don't let it ruin my life, but I try to make sure that I've learned from my mistake.
