I don't necessarily prefer dubs in most cases, but there are a lot of excellent dubs; and I say that as someone who gets paid to translate Japanese and as someone who has also been paid to act on stage before.

It really depends. For Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell I prefer to watch dubbed. Sometimes its seems hard for American voice actors to get that cute sounding voice or that really over the top screams. American voice actors also make those gritty type animes better but thats just my opinion xD

I'd gladly switch over to dubs the day I loose my hearing.

English dubs aren't always bad compare to others. I think it's because you always hear your language, it's same for me when I listen to music. But yeah, there are some good dubs and some bad ones, I really don't mind which to pick, depends on my mood and how well the voice acting goes.

I'm with both dub and sub. Only watch dub anime when lazy and don't feel like watching sub.

Just to add an extra angle to this conversation, some Japanese voice acting is also pretty bad; you probably just don't realize it. The other day, Mamoru Hosoda came out and talked a bit about why he hires people who aren't traditional voice actors for his films, and the main reason was because they always had such busy schedules that it wouldn't be possible to get the full cast in the room at once to perform. This seems like a mundane statement, but it is actually INCREDIBLY important! Not having your fellow actors in the same recording session makes it incredibly difficult to play off from each other in a natural way. It leaves dialogue sounding awkward or stilted. You have to have a very talented ADR director, or just get extremely lucky to end up with a good product. This is largely the same problem that English dubs have. I am a huge proponent of full cast recordings where possible.

I prefer watching dubbed versions of animes if they've been dubbed. Reason for this, is I have terrible vision/damaged eyes and it's a painful strain on my eyes to read the subtitles while trying to watch the anime. That being said I have no problem watching a subbed anime if the dub sucks ass.

I love dub and sub. Though I will admit that I've been leaning more towards sub lately. I never really had an issue with dub though there have been one or two instances where I thought the voices weren't chosen correctly for the characters. I also like the fact that with dub I don't have to worry about paying attention to the subtitles which has become much easier for me but I've also realized I don't feel as relaxed when I'm trying to pay attention to the subtitles. I also enjoy sub though because sometimes it is pretty surprising how much is changed when it is dubbed. Sometimes it seems that the dub lines are more enjoyable but usually they seem about the same in my experience but I'm not talking about the times when they change a lot and one series. If it's a harem so sometimes one will be funnier than the other. If you only care for dub you might be surprised if you get sub a try once or so. There might be some special little extras that might kind of seemed like a Easter egg that will change when they did a dub of it. Sometimes there's not much of a difference at all like with Gundam Seed or Gundam SEED Destiny were pretty much the only difference between the two was a rewording of the sentence even though virtually the same exact words were used but just in a different order pretty much.
