There seems no matter where I go that there are no Otaku guys where I live or even my age. And girls (friendship wise lol). I cosplay go to AB and still don't know many people and noone seems interested....what am I doing wrong :( ? sorry kind of a rant but i'm just tired of it.
Well it can be a tendency of male otakus to be shy in public. It's actually a tendency of most otakus, male or female, when they don't have anybody to otaku with. I just made that a verb. O.o
Anyway, try joining a club or make a habit of expressing your interests more. A male Italy is bound to notice.

You are doing nothing wrong, its really the area you live in. You have better chances finding fellow otaku around your age in College Anime Clubs than anywhere else. There are more and more people becoming anime fans with the new generations coming up while the older ones are holding their ground.
That and Mop is right, some/most Otakus are kinda socially awkward.
If you think that is bad try Connecticut, I live down here and its hard at times too. Mostly teenagers in High School still.

What Geeky Panda said. Western MA is just as bad as CT, except rather than teens it's college-age or older who have "exclusive" little groups. I'm surprised, because I feel like there'd be more Otaku guys and girls out in central and eastern MA where there's actually civilization.
Same thing with Illinois, tis why I go all the way to the east coast instead of attending local conventions ~.~ This has to do with the demographic of where I live though.
But they're out there. Best bet is to join groups and whatnot, even outside of college or high school. Sometimes even that doesn't work though (people at my current college are a bunch of kids >.>), and you have to bite the bullet and hope you get lucky. I know a few people at work who are pretty cool, though none are female ~.~;;
Just realized that my Zune autocorrected 'otaku' to 'italy' ... Mybad ><;;
I feel alone here in my area as well... ppl here are much into boating, fishing & hunting... xP
I don't want to make it sound like a good thing, but it's good to see I'm not the only person that seems to have this trouble. I just came out about being into all this stuff not to long ago. At my age I don't really have to go to cons and all that. That's why I came to this site, but seems like it might be a waist. :(
And I find it hard as hell to talk to Otaku girls cause I'm not use to showing this side of myself to anyone. :(
