shingeki no kyojin, good or bad?

lilly
So I've heard very mixed reviews about shingeki no kyojin, but I'm kinda curious about it, so is it worth watching or not?

Well the art looked weird to me. Those fat lines and all i mean. The plot is quite simple. The interesting part about its story are all the mysteries. The action is really intense and the music is amazing. Characters are flat, cliche, underdeveloped, one dimensional pieces of wood imo. Overall quite an epic series for all the surprises tho

Never seen the anime, but the manga is pretty good.

So should I start with the manga then?

depends on which media you prefer. I have not read the manga from the start but I'd say the anime does a decent job

the issues I had with the series are mostly with the way the story progresses rather than the animation quality

in my opinion, it's one of the best anime out there. My favorite anime is Naruto, but I believe S SnK's action and storyline are ten times better. I even have a SnK Scout Legion sweater.

naruto anime has been pretty damn amazing lately. That thing with obito and all..wow. But if sasuke gets rinnegan then..No. just no.

Honestly, it's one of the few animes I can sit down and watch over and over again, and the same can be said about the manga: I've rewatched and reread it so many times. The development the characters go through is just astounding; for example there's one character who- in the beginning- is pretty much that useless kid who just follows his friends around. By the end of the anime, you see how he has developed into a great strategist, and in the manga he's still growing. You have your characters who seem like cold assholes, but once you know their stories, you realise they're only that way because of what they've been through and seen in past years- I mean, come on. Anyone would seem cold and heartless if they had to send soldiers into battle, knowing over 50% of them won't make it back alive. It really is an amazing story, and once you think you know what's going on, something dramatic happens and you're just always on the edge of your seat- that can be said more so for the the manga than the anime since it's still going on. The anime is amazing; the art is beautiful, the music is definitely the best I've ever heard in an anime, the voice acting is wonderful. The only thing that upset me was that the way they ended it; So much more happens with the ending in the manga, and that's what really sets up the story that follows. I say, you should watch it, and if you like it then read it. I read it first, but really not much was changed besides the last episode. I've shown it to one of my friends who only likes the really girly and cutesy anime, and she fell in love with SnK just as much as I did- we're cosplaying Annie and Mikasa at Katsucon. I really do recommend you watching it. :D

^ even though I agree that this can be considered good development, most of those characters and even their back stories have been ripped off or at least strongly influenced by old military movies. some of the similarities are scary.
