Why is there new mecha anime that come out every season basically the same. Results: Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Luck & Logic Bubuki Buranki Schwarzesmarken Phantasy Star Online 2 Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry Basically the intro and ending the same. Guy bumps into girl, girl has a crush on him and they have fights/adventures and win the ending. Same thing. Any objections?

I think just about anything can be considered the same when you overly simplify the details to that sort of degree.

Good Sir , I recommend to you "Knights of Sedonia" and basically any and all GUNDAM series ... Mecha anime hit its PRIME during the 1980s ... L-Gaim , Dunbine , Macross ... Just google 1980s mecha anime

If you want to be that simplistic about it there are only 7 plots anyone can tell: Human vs. Human, Human vs. Nature, Human against God, Human vs. Society, Human in the Middle, Woman & Man, Human vs. Himself. However anime is (or should be) more than the plot, there is the visual appeal and the music production and (perhaps most importantly) the brand recognition. What mean to say is that yes maybe most mechas follow a simplistic verus-sorta-plot, but a good mecha will create a world that makes you believe that there are giant flying robots that surf through the skies. And no two worlds are alike.

Uhh... Maybe you should try watching Gurren Lagann then come back...

Gurren Lagann is one of the many first mecha I seen and one of my favorite mecha. After, I seen that gurren lagann I saw other mecha, yet it felt like I was watching the same thing.

Ah, gotcha... I will say this though: there are people who try to make something fresh with mechas. They just don't get that far because there's not enough interest. For example, Basquash: essentially a mechanical anime meets a basketball anime. While they had a good idea, there just wasn't enough people liking it for it to get very far.

I think modern mecha lack a lot of the mastery of classics. Check out stuff like the Gundam (0079, Zeta, War in the Pocket and Turn A are the best), Gunbuster, Evangelion, Patlabor, Macross (especially the original, Do You Remember Love and Plus), Mazinger and Getter Robo to get a real good sense of the genre. I feel a lot of what's coming out now is a shallow imitation of what was made between the 70s-90s and lacks the creativity of the originals. That and old mecha designs were so sweet, CGI seems to be the go to now but look like at something like Macross Plus or Do You Rememver Love to see the level of detail of the cock pit and just how amazing the battle scenes are.
