Thoughts on Paranormal/Horror Anime

I'm currently watching Another with a friend. I'm on episode five and I can see this show is like an anime Final Destination. That poor student murdered by umbrella tsk tsk... Anyways! I'm hooked on this genre and would love to hear your experiences with such. The last paranormal piece I've experienced was the manga "Spiral" or "Uzumaki" which was twisted beyond belief. My favorite chapter has to be the bit with the boy with the spring lodged into his body upon being run over by a car. Then he is able to leap out of his grave in a jack-in-a-box like fashion.

.....Need....more....Ghost hunt.... that about sums it up for me thought horror in anime is rare. Seems like it would be really hard to produce something truly spine chilling in anime. My guess is the visual gore factor would have to go up quite a few notches.

I have sadly been unable to find a large amount of "good" horror in terms of animation. That being said, such series as Another and Higurashi (although I do prefer the manga in terms of being creepy and atmospheric) to be quite enjoyable. It saddens me because I love the genre of horror in general, and would love to see more, so if anyone has any other suggestions I would love to hear them
