Do you consider yourself picky?

ashleyfayelolicake
I do. I don't want to be, but I find myself very picky when considering who to date. I even have a list of things that I don't like/want in a partner, and I've really only broken it once. I will not date: Someone younger than me, someone shorter than me, someone severely overweight, someone without a source of income. I refuse to date an ugly man. I know that it sounds mean, I feel bad when I list this stuff, but I know what I like and what I want. I have standards, and I'd prefer you met them if we date. I know what I like from experience, and it gave me a good feeling of what to want. What about you?

I'm quite picky when it comes to girls. Similar interests aren't always a must, but Personality and physical attraction play a huge role in weather or not I'm interested in a girl. I'd never settle for something below my standards because I wouldn't be happy.

You have to have chemistry. Without that the rest is all fluff. What makes girls beautiful is what is above the neck. Intelligence, education, being their own person, being able to hold up their end of a conversation, emotional empathy, all count. Above all I am no one's makeover project. Each must accept the other for who they are. Differences are what make a relationship interesting. This is the beef I have with dating sites in general. They are set up to filter out differences.
kronos
I have to agree with you, Catbus. Without the things you mentioned, the relationship would be superficial at best.

Well, while the idea is good, Catbus and Kronos, you rarely see it in practice. More often than not, unless you interact with someone on a constant basis, you don't give those you find physically unappealing a chance to let you get to know them. It's not just dating sites, it's society as a whole. <br> Does it then surprise you, that I am also picky? =p Though, as far as the severely overweight thing is concerned, it just really kinda shows me the person is unable to take care of themself, and doesn't care enough to do so. That's just my opinion anyway.

Well, I wasn't discounting the importance of physical attraction. But if that is all you have, then that's a pretty pathetic excuse for a relationship. I will stand by my list, no matter how rare. Without chemistry, you might as well just be paying for it.

*nods* True, Catbus, very true.
