meeting new otaku

I have been thinking for a while and can't seem to think of anything but how do you or others you know meet local otaku, besides the obvious over the internet thing.

I went to a card shop, wound up talking to one guy about the different trends in card games these days and how problematic they can be. Then we got into a discussion about pokemon (which personally for me died after 2nd generation) and somehow wound up on the otaku subject. After that I managed to make 6 new otaku friends that ever couple of week we hang talk otaku and do other random stuff. You can never really know if a person is otaku or not until you somehow manage to get into a discussion on opinions and interests.

Yeah I mean are there any card shops near you? Anything that has a decently big manga collection and other anime-related stuff? Might be good places to hang out. Check your library for something too depending on your age. My library has a little gathering every two weeks or so to watch anime and hang out, but it attracts really young people, like early high school so you might be a creep depending on your age.

Ya I just turned 26 so I don't want to be creeper dude at highschool hangout. But the local library is sadly out the usual I see there are wanna be gang bangers and others like that. As far as card shops only one I knew of closed down about 10 years back.

I go to meetups and just find the meetups for otaku! Somehow my can-do attitude makes me popular. So, just go to a meetup and have fun! Be the guy people want to talk to! You never know who you'll meet! :P

Meet ups for otaku here are literally all 13-17 year old narutards... sad days for me. The three over 18 otaku females I met irl... two were assholes, the other played me... Women suck.

The sad part, the last one, I really cared a lot for, out my heart our there for her, only to get fucked over.. I hate WoW. I hate what WoW does to people. I hate the people on WoW who think pixelated relationships are more valuable than an actual person. I hate WoW... Fuck you WoW...
