should America be allowed to turn anime into movies

rakushun
with the flops of Dragonball Evolution & The Last Airbender I say no more but what do you think?
frozentruth
I say no America should leave the anime movies to Japan because I didn't really like ether of those movies

I wouldn't mind it so much. As long as everything was set up correctly. The stories themselves are usually fantastic and I would actually enjoy seeing a westernized version. DragonBall and Airbender were a flop but that's because the director's had no idea what they were even doing. A hot mess from beginning to end.

I would be kinda 50/50 on that. The reason being because although they both were slightly off (putting it nicely) compared to all the other live action anime movies I've seen, those two examples had the best looking budget/looked to have the most effort put into them to be serious, even if they were "off-base" with the storyline. Low budget is what has caused a lot of live action anime's to go bad (in my opinion)

I really dont care. I dont watch any real action movies based on anime after dragonball evolution, which was hardly dragonball related other than the character names. I have actually seen the last airbender in the cinema. I was depressed for 25 years and locked myself in a dark underground hall, where I was plotting the destruction of the universe.

yep that's what happens when you watch the last airbender movie yet there still making a 2nd part to it

We've seen their history, leave it alone for a couple of years. America can try again when the embarrassment dies.

Yeah, I think the only good part of that movie was the effects...

It's not really "EVIL AMERICAS" fault. The various studios (Toei being the most notable one) actually sign off to various film studios (FOX) and then they make the movie. It's not like America just gets up and goes "let's make a Dragon Ball movie"! There is a lot that goes into it. Honestly, my only problem with Dragon Ball Evolution is that "Dragon Ball" is in it's name. If the script had been re-worked, characters had been changed, etc. It would have been a decent fighting flick. I don't think everyone should be so quick to disregard American studios. I mean, Fox DID help fund DBZ: Battle of Gods and it wouldn't have been releases world wide without their help.
