Room Mate Rules

If you had a room mate what would you make a official rule in your household or dorm, or whatever. My only rule for the people who live with me is to not clog the toilet and leave it.

Hmmmmm. No smoking indoors. If you use something, wash it (like a plate or a pan) or replace it. Don't leave guests alone in the room because my friend's room mate would constantly bring new friends over and then go to class while the 'friend' stayed in the room and a lot of expensive stuff went missing. Ask before you rifle through my personal belongings. Take a shower every so often. I'm so picky I'd be a horrible roommate.

Nah, your expectations sound normal to me. I personally wouldn't consider things like showering a rule just common decency.

Things I learned from living with other people. Do not involve money. That's a most important one. Don't pay for the other person's half of anything. Another is to not be afraid of hurting another person's feelings if there's a situation where you're not comfortable. You're roommates, not necessarily best friends.

Do not come into the bathroom without knocking and getting an OK if someone is in there. No wild/funky/kinky/loud sex without a 24 hr warning so i can dissappear. No smoking... anything. No skipping baths or over perfuming. (I do not need the ability to track u thru the house just by smell alone) There will be a contract made and signed by both parties if any money is involved. (I refuse to get yelled at by Judge Judy)
